Dynamic Flow Hatha yoga classes with Karen Simper
Karen has been working with Healthy Options since 2005 and receives superb feedback for her teaching methods and style every single week of our season.
Karen first started practicing yoga in 1996 to help bring balance to her life as a cardiac nurse. Since then, her passion for yoga has continued to grow and she has practiced Lyengar yoga, Scaravelli yoga and most intensively, Astanga Vinyassa yoga.
Her teaching is a reflection and blend of all the styles she has practiced and teachers she has studied with over the years. Although reluctant to label it as anything other than Hatha yoga, her style is probably best described as Flow yoga or Dynamic yoga. Her classes focus on connecting mind, body and breath through the flow of Asana (posture).
Classes are available on a beginner level, improver level and for combined levels throughout the week. They are designed to be progressive and will enable you to begin or continue self practice at home.
• The Modified Primary Series is more suitable for those who are new to yoga, but is also beneficial for any other levels. The emphasis of this series is to realign the muscular skeletal system.
• The Flow Classes have an emphasis on hip-opening Asanas, twists and backbends. These classes are available on a beginner and improver level.
• The Technique Classes look at various Asanas of the Flow and Modified Primary classes, but in further detail; exploring alignment, modifications and the placement of the Asana within the sequence.
Gentle Hatha-based yoga classes with Andreas Barra
Andreas Barra started his yoga practice at the age of 11, practicing Hatha yoga under the tutelage of Swami Kriyananda‘s disciples. Since 2004, he has been a frequent traveler to India for 6 months of the year, visiting a number of Ashrams and studying a variety of disciplines related to yoga, including Ayurveda, Tantra and Vedanta.
Andreas Barra’s classes are based on the Satyandanda yoga tradition and emphasise the awareness of the body, breath and mind through gentle yoga postures. His classes finish with the opportunity to explore some simple meditation techniques.
Andreas started teaching on our yoga holidays in Greece in 2010 and among his other qualifications, he likes tight-rope walking, juggling and fire-eating/breathing. Make sure you get him to show off his skills on at least one of your evenings with us!
Andrea Soles
Andrea is a German national but lived in Canada for many years, where she has her own Massage Therapy business.
Last year Andrea came to visit Vassiliki and loved it so much that she stayed for the whole summer!
She is very excited to be coming back and joining the Wildwind Healthy Options team full time after helping out on a part time basis last year.
This season she will be running Yoga and Pilates sessions, particularly for our German speaking clients, as well as offering Swedish and Hot Stone Massage, Reflexology as well as Reiki Energy Healing.
